Hey, we're Hikelandia!

We're a married couple, both born and raised in Oregon. We started our blog in spring of 2013 because we love the outdoors, and wanted a way to keep track of where we've been and what we've seen.

Whether we are hiking, kayaking, or snowshoeing, one of our favorite areas to go on an adventure is the Mt. Hood National Forest. The Mt. Hood area is a great place to explore because it doesn't matter what season were in, there is always something to do. It has a wide variety of scenery with treelined trails, lakes, rivers, creeks, and waterfalls, all tied together with great mountain views.

One of our favorite hikes is Bald Mountain where you get stunning views of Mt. Hood and the Muddy Fork of the Sandy River. Along with the great views, the trail is lined with wildflowers in early summer, and bushes full of huckleberries in August.

If you are looking to snowshoe, head to Government Camp and get on the Crosstown Trail, which has enough intersecting trails to keep you exploring for most of the day. Be sure to check out Enid Lake while you are there.

If you're looking for an easy paddle with great views of Mt. Hood, put your kayak in at Lost Lake, where you will get up close views of the mountain from nearly every corner. This is a great, relaxing way to spend a hot summer day. Having both grown up in the Portland area we've been going to Mt. Hood all our lives, and were still finding new places to have fun.
